At WeskusKuier, we believe that the best kind of healing happens in nature – and often, with a horse by your side. That’s why we created Helping Horses, Helping Humans, a heartfelt community initiative that brings together rescued horses and children from underprivileged communities for free, therapeutic riding lessons.

Why Horses?

Horses are deeply intuitive animals. They mirror human emotions, respond to energy, and can create calm in even the most anxious hearts. For children who face daily challenges – whether economic, emotional, or social – time spent with a horse can offer a sense of freedom, connection, and trust that words often can’t.

What We Do

Through Helping Horses, Helping Humans, we offer:

  • Free riding lessons for local children who wouldn’t otherwise have access to this kind of experience.

  • Gentle, rescue horses who have overcome their own hardships and now serve as patient teachers and companions.

  • A safe and supportive space where kids can learn responsibility, gain confidence, and simply have fun.

It’s more than just riding. It’s learning how to lead, care, and connect – with animals, with others, and with themselves.

The Ripple Effect

We’ve seen firsthand how these sessions spark change. Children leave the paddock taller, smiling wider, and carrying a little more hope. For some, it’s their first experience of unconditional acceptance. For others, it opens up new dreams and possibilities.

And the horses? They heal too. Many of our four-legged friends come from neglect or abandonment. Here, they find purpose again – and it shows in every gentle nudge and steady trot.

How You Can Help

Helping Horses, Helping Humans is run entirely through the support of kind-hearted donors, volunteers, and community members. Whether you’d like to:

  • Sponsor a riding session

  • Donate feed, gear, or riding equipment

  • Offer your time as a volunteer

  • Or simply spread the word

…you’ll be helping us keep this circle of healing turning.

Join the Movement

This is more than a project. It’s a mission to uplift both horses and humans through mutual care and kindness. If you're staying at WeskusKuier, ask us about the program – you might even get to meet a few of our gentle giants.

Together, we can create a space where hope rides strong.
